A few years ago when we rebranded we also changed our domain to «AI» (www.darc.ai). At that time customers were asking us why «AI» and what it means to us. The funny thing is that now some other customers are telling us, you put AI because of fashion huh?;
We called it «Because AI is not the future, it's the present», we used to say at the time
This was the explanation we had on our Profile page for why we symbolically chose AI and not com or gr. We had already applied machine learning techniques even in our own projects but we won't hide from you that even we didn't understand at that time how correct, how true and above all how pertinent that «quote» was.
A little bit of our intuition, a little bit of our obsession with technology, a little bit of our software sector and a lot of luck put us in the happy position of being able to say that we made an excellent positioning at the most opportune moment. A placement that seemed so far away and which now already seems so commonplace.
The truth is that we were caught off guard by this outbreak in ai, us and the whole planet! We will not be afraid to say that it may have caught even those who were working feverishly on it off guard.
I don't have time to follow the developments!
It's probably the first time that we, (and all the tech freaks on the planet) can no longer feel uncomfortable about not being able to keep up with developments. It no longer has anything to do with how technologically «intelligent» or up-to-date one is.
The speed and developments are beyond human ability to keep up, for the very simple reason that it is not only man who is evolving technology at the moment, but it is evolving itself.
Are we happy about that?;
We are numb for sure.
Anyone who has studied history knows what Homo Sapiens has done whenever an uncontrollable force has fallen into his hands. From the first knife, the airplane, gunpowder, radiation and now AI.
Cliché, but with the knife he drew and killed, with the plane he traveled and bombed, with gunpowder he tunneled and killed masses of people, with radiation he made nuclear bombs and CT scanners, and now with AI what will he do? AI might be something stronger than all of the above put together.
History teaches that it will be used for evil and the question is not whether it will cause evil, but whether the evil it will cause will be less than the good it will create. No one can say, but anyone who has studied history and understands the power that unfolds before them can only be numb. Neither happy nor unhappy.
